The BMW GINA is undeniably crazy, with its elastic fabric body that can change shape and its unique eye-lid headlights.
Introducing the BMW GINA, a revolutionary sports car concept that is not like any other. Supercar Blondie’s Sergi Galiano has recently reviewed this remarkable car in Germany and it is absolutely breathtaking. The BMW GINA has a fabric skin which is made of a polyurethane-coated Spandex; an elastic, water-resistant, and translucent man-made fabric that is durable and resilient to high or low temperatures. Moreover, the fabric does not shrink or swell and movement does not damage or slacken it. What’s more, the BMW GINA has the ability to change its shape depending on external conditions and speeds. Additionally, the driver can also customize the shape according to their preference.
The material is extended over a framework that has mobile components. The desired shapes are created using an aluminum wire structure located beneath the fabric. For flexible areas like the ducts, door openings, and spoiler, adaptable carbon struts are utilized. Different electric and hydraulic actuators control the frame’s shape. The headlights are exposed via small motors that pull the fabric open from slits in an eyelid-like manner. To gain access to the engine, a cut that opens down the middle of the hood can be used. As the material is see-through, the taillights shine through it.
The BMW GINA is an innovative car that uses only four panels – the hood, two side panels, and the trunk. Surprisingly, its skin looks completely seamless but can extend its rear spoiler for better stability at high speed. The butterfly-style doors are also unique, as they are covered by a fabric piece that extends from the front to the back, creating a smooth surface when shut. Overall, the BMW GINA is a remarkable car with advanced features and a sleek design.
The BMW GINA has a flawless shift from the outside appearance to its interior design. During parking, the car’s steering wheel and instruments rest on the center console in an “idle” position for comfortable entry. Upon pressing the start button, the steering wheel and instruments move to their appropriate positions. Additionally, the headrest elevates from the seat once the driver sits down. It may sound unbelievable, but it’s quite a sight to see. Check out the complete video by scrolling up!
